I fell in love with sewing in 1999, during a high school class that sparked something deep and creative—and honestly? It never left. After having my first daughter in 2005, that spark reignited into a full-blown passion: Halloween costumes, dolls, custom outfits… I stitched love into everything. And now she’s a maker too. (Proud mom moment.)

With the arrival of my younger daughter and son in 2012 and 2013, I added crochet to my crafty chaos and just kept going. Purses became my obsession—choosing the fabrics, finding the perfect pattern—and along the way I collected other hobbies like cross-stitch, macrame, sculpting, and whatever else caught my eye.

Most days, you’ll find me barefoot in my craft nook, making something weird or beautiful (sometimes both), with shuffled playlists featuring Radiohead, Being Dead, and Mikal Cronin—or sometimes some Tim Burton or Ghibli movie on in the background. It’s my happy place. Always has been.

Midnight Crow Atelier was born from years of making too many things to keep and the need to turn my creative fire into something more. The goal? Help support my family, pay down debt, and give back to our community. Once I hit $500 in sales, I’ll begin donating to local food banks and other local charities.

Every item is made by me, Melissa—unless otherwise labeled. My kids and siblings sometimes add their own quirky creations too. It's a bit of a family menagerie in here.
